Mr Jan Gear

The best wildlife pictures are not taken by accident but with patience and experience. But also thanks to good gear… The products of Mr Jan Gear make it happen! For a photographer, to have all his equipment close, protected and ready to be used at any moment is a dream. Especially like me, if you spend all your time outside, in the field or traveling. Mr Jan Gear makes this dream come true…

Who is Mr Jan ?

Behind Mr Jan Gear’s products there is one man: Jan Goddefroy. This passionate man from Belgium is first of all a birdwatcher lover and a nature photographer. His passion for nature has been combined to his other interest: the outdoor industry. Both combined makes today Mr Jan Gear.

Why I like Mr Jan Gear ?

Camera gear weighs a lot. And as a nature photographer I walk a lot. In forests, mountains and of course airports.
I love shooting animals, landscapes, macro,…so I tend to stuff my backpack with all sorts of lenses and cameras. Usually at least 15 kg of toys. I love shooting with my big long and heavy 600mm lens. I took this lens all over the world, and there are not a lot of camera bags that takes this monstrous lens, together with a whole bunch of other gear.
It takes almost all my gear I need, and the zippers on the back gives it fantastic features: the bag never makes my goretex jackets dirty, and if I ever forget (it happened about three times now sofar) to close the zipper while wearing the bag, no stuff falls out. It is also very safe to have the access blocked while wearing, for example on busy airports.
I have been walking and flying around now with the Boris bag for years now, and can’t imagine using another bag anymore. I might need a bigger bag when doing something very very crazy, but they won’t fit in the overhead lockers on airplanes anymore. And I don’t think my back would be happy with more weight…
