We travel by snowmobile to Eureka (allow 3 days of intensive travel) and have the chance to see polar bears, Arctic wolves, and Arctic foxes along the way.
We search for Arctic wolves and other Arctic wildlife to capture on camera. Because we travel in a small group, we can move around flexibly and take advantage of exciting photographic opportunities in the most remote locations.
We say goodbye to this breathtaking place and begin our journey home. First, we travel back to Grise Fiord by snowmobile.
We arrive in Grise Fiord and begin our flights home. These flights are not included in the price.
We first fly to Resolute Bay, then to Iqaluit, then to Ottawa, and finally to Belgium, the Netherlands, or another airport of your choice.
HARSH WINTER VIBES
Photographing the Arctic wolf is no ordinary task; you’ll be wrapped in a thick down parka, with a cozy hat, gloves, and seriously warm snow boots. We’ll spend hours on the tundra, tracking wolves. If we’re lucky enough to find them, one thing is certain: you’re in for a jaw-dropping spectacle. The wild landscape, combined with the harsh winter conditions, creates a surreal backdrop that fuels the imagination. You might even find yourself in a blinding snowstorm—conditions that make for the most extraordinary shots.
Each day, we head out regardless of the weather. Every condition offers a unique opportunity to capture stunning shots. You’ll learn how to master exposure in snowy conditions and how to protect both yourself and your gear from the biting cold.
ARCTIC WOLF
Our primary target? Arctic wolves, of course! But along the way, we might encounter other spectacular wildlife like musk oxen, Arctic hares, foxes, and perhaps even marine mammals. With some luck, we might even spot narwhals or belugas.
MASTERING PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIQUES
Capturing a shot of an Arctic wolf is nothing short of thrilling. I will help you immortalize that moment with my experience, built up after countless trips to the Far North.
We will take the time to help you perfect your photography skills, no matter your camera brand or type. From shooting fast-paced action to selecting the right autofocus settings for razor-sharp images, you’ll be fully prepared. We’ll also dive deep into the challenges of shooting white subjects in white environments—a tough task for any camera. And before we venture into the cold, we’ll ensure you’re thoroughly prepared. Before departure, we’ll hold an info session to get acquainted and go over the trip details in depth.
ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSPORT
We camp on location. Comfortable camping equipment is provided. All transportation on site and meals are included.
We fly to Grise Fiord (flights not included) and travel by snowmobile to Eureka and back.
The flights to Grise Fiord are not included in the price, but we would be happy to propose a suitable flight itinerary from Brussels or Amsterdam (or another airport of your choice), depending on your personal preferences. It is entirely up to you whether you book the flights through us, or arrange them independently.
For the flights to and from Resolute Bay or Grise Fiord, you should budget approximately €5,500–€7,500 per person.
CLIMATE, CLOTHING AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Very warm clothing is essential for this trip. I can carefully explain how to dress and which clothing is suitable for these temperatures. Expect highly variable temperatures, ranging from -5 to -30°C, with even lower wind chill temperatures!
We will never walk very far, but the deep snow, cold, and long days will certainly challenge us. Everyone is welcome on this trip, and with the right clothing, you will be able to withstand the cold.
Photography
We mainly photograph action, so fast cameras are the best choice, with lenses ranging from 200 mm to 600 mm.
Lens covers will help protect your valuable equipment. On a typical day, we take a large number of photographs. In these cold conditions, you should bring plenty of spare batteries. Large and, above all, very fast memory cards are also essential!
We also recommend bringing a laptop with fast card readers and storage drives. You will be amazed at how many images you can capture during each session.
