PHOTOGENIC DUNES: WELCOME TO NAMIBIA
The Sossusvlei (‘vlei’ is Afrikaans for ‘marsh’) is a must-see during this trip to Namibia. We explore the domain by day and remain here overnight. This enables us to push through to the iconic Deadvlei, a plain full of white boulders. We take our pictures before sunrise. The sloping dunes and countless southern oryxes are a sight you will never forget.
A PELICAN AND FLAMINGO FEST
This photography tour would be incomplete without a visit to Walvisbaai. We explore the bay on a privately chartered boat. Swarms of pelicans and sea mammals are curious to see what we are up to. Add thousands of flamingo’s, and you know that this boat trip is a feast for the photographic eye. It keeps us happy for hours.
After the water, we head into the Namib desert. We’re on the lookout for the ‘Small Five’: black scorpion, desert gekko, sidewinder snake, Namaqua chameleon and shovel-snouted lizard.
FUR SEALS AND EXTRAORDINARY WILDELIFE
Cape Cross Seal Reserve is a test for all the senses. Not only will you hear thousands of fur seals calling, but the smell is something you will equally never forget. We explore our creativity in the presence of all these beautiful animals. How can we creatively portray them? And what is a beautiful composition?
Visiting Africa also means going on a safari. We use the final few days to treat you to the abundant wildlife in Etosha. Prepare for many unforgettable encounters.
ZOOMING IN ON LEOPARDS
Before returning home, we visit the Conservation Reserve for cheetahs. We take our time to stand eye to eye with one of the most impressive cats of the African continent. This final photoshoot is sure to fill the remaining memory cards.
TRANSPORT AND PHOTOGRAPHY
We travel in a spacious rental car with more than enough room for 7 people and their luggage. In Etosha, we have 2 jeeps to our disposal, giving everybody extra space to move around. The safari jeeps and the boat are privately chartered, allowing us to stop where and however long we want. Everything is in function of photography!
We stay in very comfortable lodges that assure us a good night’s sleep, tasty meals and beautiful surroundings.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
After registration, we will send you all the necessary details about the appropriate clothing and photography gear. As it cools down at night, a variety of clothes for very different temperatures will be needed.
A 100 to 400 mm-lens will get you a long way. And you will find your wide-angle also doing overtime, as the landscapes here are nothing short of phenomenal.
