Schedule
We fly to Trondheim airport and travel on to Lauvsnes. We check into our guesthouse, where we will stay for the next few days. Flights are not included in the price. The program below is indicative and depends on weather conditions.
Those who wish can take a seat in a bird hide. This hide is relatively new, so we count on you for results! But one thing is certain: the hide is excellent, and the species will surprise you. The forest hide is available for the entire week so you can use it at your leisure.
We will capture the white-tailed eagles and many other birds and animals from the boat. This workshop will delve deeper into photographing birds in flight (settings, composition, creativity, etc). We will be guided by an expert in the field and one of Norway’s most well-known nature photography guides.
In addition to boat trips and a bird hide, we will also go on an elch (European moose) safari. We will try to find these majestic animals in a setting with an autumn atmosphere. We will also focus on the beautiful fjords and landscapes during our trips. And who knows, we might be lucky enough to enjoy the magical Northern Lights …
Unfortunately, the trip is over. We will drive back to the airport and fly home. Flights are not included in the price.
Partnership
In cooperation with Starling ToursWHITE-TAILED EAGLES: A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
You’ll join a practical workshop on bird photography in flight: creativity, composition, settings…
We will focus on birds, but also on landscapes and local mammals.
We plan six photography sessions with a professional local guide and several elch excursions. We will have a forest hide available to us at all times to photograph squirrels and local birds.
NATURE EXPERIENCE AND PHOTOGRAPHY
In Lauvsnes, we will take boat trips of 2 to 4 hours to find the white-tailed eagles and elche. If the weather permits, we will take a boat trip daily. We also have access to a forest hut for three photographers as often as we want.
We go up the hill next to our guesthouse to (hopefully!) spot the Northern Lights!
Local guide and photographer Ole Martin Dahle will join me as your guide. Every day will be productive, so be sure to bring enough memory cards!
UNMATCHED FAUNA AND FLORA
The show’s star on the Flatanger coast is, of course, the white-tailed eagle! Because we are on the beach, we expect migratory birds, various local gull species, some harbour porpoises, and possibly even an otter.
Elche are common in this area. In the forests, we expect to see the black grouse, hazel grouse, golden eagle, western capercaillie, and many small birds such as Eurasian bullfinch and tits. We also have a forest hide to photograph various small bird species, red squirrels and maybe even a pine marten.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
The average temperature in Flatanger will be around 7 degrees Celsius. Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy hiking boots are necessary for the comfort of this trip. A hat, gloves, and a scarf are essential. Bring at least two of each, as they may get wet during a boat trip.
A thick down jacket is not a luxury. It’s also advisable to bring as many layers as possible. Start with thermal underwear, add a warm softshell (fleece or similar), and then a windproof and hardshell jacket or winter coat. A non-insulating ski suit to protect against splashes can also be very effective.
ACCOMODATION AND TRANSPORT
We will stay in a cozy and comfortable guesthouse and a nearby apartment. Everyone will have a single room, which is included in the price. A minibus will provide on-site transport.
We fly to Trondheim from an airport of your choice. You can book your flights through us or arrange them yourself. We will contact all participants upon guaranteed departure to present the different flight options. For the flights, you can expect prices between 400 and 700 euros.
